Part 1-Know Your Adversary
It’s time to do a foundation check. Let’s start with what we know about the enemy…he’s a liar (John 8:44) he’s crafty & subtle (Genesis 3:1), he’s known to fashion himself as an angel of light (2 Corin. 10:4-5), he steals, kills and destroys (John 10:10), he has a specific assignment against you, he attacks through thoughts (2 Corin. 10:4-5), he knows the word of God (Luke 4), and he is the author of confusion (1 Corin. 14:33), doubt and unbelief to name a few. We need to realize that our battle is not with people, but the demonic spirits everywhere (Eph. 6:12) that seek out and attach to those people with a crack in their foundation.
Now, as our adversary, satan hunts God’s people, trying to pick off the weak, the veiled, and those who have grown weary and dropped back from the herd in order to self-preserve. He is always looking for a way to maneuver us into a position by ourselves; separated from God where he can leap out of nowhere to attack us. Remember- God is our refuge and strength, a present very help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). We also know that satan is defeated already by the blood of Jesus (Rev. 12:10-11) so sprinkle the blood daily to stay cleansed and covered, and don’t forget to stay armored up (Ephesians 6).
When you are trained to know your adversary you will be aware of his next move and be ready to counterattack. So check for cracks in your foundation, stay united with the body of Christ and apply the blood of Jesus to mend all cracks before the enemy finds them and sneaks in to devour. If you need help ask your helper, the Holy Spirit. Next week will focus on our thoughts and words.
